Andrew Barbash, MD is a neurologist in active practice as the medical director of the Stroke Program and Neurosciences at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. He went to medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago, and did his neurology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. He was with Kaiser Permanente in the Mid-Atlantic area for 12 years as both a member of the neurology department and as the Vice President of Clinical Information Systems for the medical group, overseeing the deployment of the electronic medical record until 2001.
Dr Barbash has been an active speaker in the areas of eHealth, mobile health and telehealth, and helped to launch a virtual care service at Holy Cross Hospital under the division of medical affairs.
Since 2005 he has provided consulting services as the CEO and co-founder of Apractis Solutions, LLC…focused on communications and workflow. Along with a small group of clinicians with similar interests, Dr Barbash helped establish NowDox (www.nowdox.com) , a community devoted to the support of virtual care.
